In 1998, James Mason, Reserve Specialist #10, and N. K. Mason, Reserve Specialist #15, founded Mason & Mason. After years of performing reserve studies for other companies, they were frustrated by the way it was being practiced. They felt that their company could demonstrate a better way to perform reserve analysis.
